Workshop develops employability skills

Senior School

05 July 2019

Earlier this week, Year 10 took part in a unique programme called ‘This Way Up?’ run by Bright Green Enterprise.

The programme introduces the global initiative of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The girls were challenged to practice becoming international change-makers by building a not-for-profit organisation that supports environmental sustainability.

Working in teams, pupils were set three main ‘missions’ surrounding the context of building a charitable organisation to address an Environmental Sustainability issue. Each mission is designed to test team work and independent thinking with the aim of meeting specific briefs e.g. Climate Change or Fundraising.

At the end of the day, the girls presented their ideas and competed against each other, winning a variety of prizes.

Through the initiative pupils developed key employability skills as well as enhanced their understanding of pressing domestic and international environmental issues.
