Our UCAS Day of Discovery

Sixth Form

28 June 2024

On Monday 24 June, Year 12 enjoyed a day of discovery, finding out more about UCAS and gaining valuable insights into an exciting range of potential career pathways. The students tell us about the day in their own words.

We all made our way to the NEC bright and early, and navigated our way to the Starbucks outside the exhibition centre, where we treated ourselves to a well-deserved drink to help us cool down before the day began.

Upon entering the exhibition centre we received a map of where all the universities and employers were located in the hall, which helped us to efficiently navigate our way around the vast venue. We had the chance to visit admissions tutors and students from the universities we are potentially interested in attending when we leave EHS.

Also in the exhibition hall was a Springpod lounge. Springpod is a free online platform that our school recommends students use to help find work experience and help them try out different career pathways prior to sending off our UCAS applications. There are subject spotlights which outline topics via videos and quizzes, as well as live work experience sessions in specialised fields.

Overall, the day was a great success and very useful in helping us to consider all the options available to us.
