Artists in Action

As part of their study of Portraiture Year 5 pupils were delighted to be invited to the Senior School Art room for a lesson developing their sketching skills.
Gasps were heard as they entered the studio as the girls were incredibly impressed at the level of ability shown by Year 12 artists, who were on hand to help and offer advice. This gave the Prep girls a visual model of the outcome that they were aiming for.
Using charcoal to create tone and detail, girls were encouraged to look at their own faces in a photograph to create depth using shading.
It was a fantastic session that could have lasted a whole day had we had longer! The pupils, and staff, were grateful for the opportunity and thoroughly enjoyed the liaison between the two parts of the School.
