EHS in Paris

Senior School

29 April 2022

At the end of last term, a group of pupils and teachers departed Birmingham in the early hours, destination France. As the first non-domestic residential trip for EHS since the pandemic, anticipation was at fever pitch and we are pleased to report that the visit did not disappoint with all participants having had a fantastic experience. Here, the girls take up the story.

Waking up at 5:30am was not amazing, let us tell you that, but the relief of getting off the coach after a 12-hour journey was. Having settled into the hotel, our competitive spirits were tested with an evening game of bowling with friends at Le Crystal Paxton bowling. Following our 8am breakfast, we hopped on the coach to the centre of the City of Love.

Here, we first visited Europe’s largest science museum, which was full of lots of interesting exhibitions to explore, once we had completed our Maths booklets, of course! Then we enjoyed the freedom of exploring the Latin Quarter, where we had lunch. With the snow coming down on us, we then hopped back on the coach to take some pictures in front of the iconic Eiffel Tower. Dinner was at The Hard Rock Café and to finish off our day, we went to the top of the Montparnasse Tower where we got a beautiful 360-degree view of Paris in the snow, with the Eiffel Tower illuminated. We took lots of pictures, of course!

The next two days were spent in the magical world of Disneyland. We went on all kinds of rides, including the group’s favourite, the ‘Tower of Terror’, which we enjoyed so much that we went on for a group photo again with the teachers. We had dinner at the huge Val D’Europe shopping centre, where many of us did some much needed shopping. On our final evening at Disneyland, we were able to enjoy an amazing fireworks and light display, feeling the magic of Disneyland. We then returned to the coach, tired and a little sad, realising it was our last night.

We had one last breakfast at the hotel, then set off in the coach for the 12 hour return journey back to school. We had a really great time and made memories which will last us for life. Thank you so much to all the teachers for organising everything! Merçi beaucoup!
