Geographers in the Field
25 March 2022
On Monday, the Geography department took Year 10 students to investigate social inequality in the Birmingham area as part of their GCSE course. The fieldwork involved looking at buildings, primarily housing, to compare the quality of life in two different areas of the city.
The girls gained insight into less and more developed areas in Birmingham by carrying out various fieldwork tasks, such as environmental quality indexes and building surveys. This research will be analysed, alongside secondary data collected in the classroom, to contribute towards their examinations later in the course. They then finished the trip with a visit to Costa (of course) for cake!
