It has been so good to see our residential trips reinstated this year. Having welcomed Year 5 back from Boreatton Park on Friday we waved Year 6 off on their trip this week. We have been enjoying hearing all about the exciting activities and are looking forward to hearing more. There have been adventures on the high ropes, raft building and canoeing, survival skills, problem solving and archery amongst many others.  The last three weeks have been full of new experiences for pupils and staff.

Back at school, the girls have been enjoying their co-curricular clubs, especially the introduction for the Summer Term of the after school cricket clubs for girls from Years 3 – 6.  The new units in our Year 5 Super Science club are also proving very popular.

In Art, having enjoyed seeing the finished Van Gogh paintings from Year 6 displayed we have now enjoyed looking at the optical illusions they have created as a result of their Op Art studies. Both of these styles have been part of their programme of enrichment, which they are looking forward to resuming on return from their week away.

Year 3 have been learning about tints, tones and shades in their Art lessons. They added blue paint to yellow, a little at a time, to create many different shades of green. This is excellent preparation for their Monet focus.

In our assemblies this week, we have presented the new representatives with their badges for posts of responsibilities. We explained these jobs and some of the other changes ahead to Reception girls who joined us on Wednesday morning as part of their transition to Prep in September.

We hope that Year 1 girls have also been inspired by the amazing Moon projects completed by Year 2. They will have this opportunity to look forward to as they make their move to Year 2. Perry, our Commonwealth Games mascot certainly enjoyed looking at the girls’ research. He has also visited a number of Year 4 lessons again. We hope to see him around other parts of the Prep School in the coming weeks as we countdown to the Games.

Next week our swimmers are looking forward to a gala against Balsall Common School and a cricket match against Hallfield.
