A rosy glow on Pink Day
26 October 2018
During the month of October, the school is always dedicated to raising money for and awareness of Breast Cancer Care.
There was a distinctly rosy glow in school on the final day of the half term on Wednesday when, in line with EHS tradition, pupils and staff alike dressed in pink to show their support for the charity ‘Breast Cancer Haven’.
The lower school was a sea of colour. There were myriad shades of pink on show as girls and staff from Nursery to Year 6 donned as much of the shade as they could find. From glittery pink skirts to furry pink slippers, all girls got behind the cause and really enjoyed the rosy non-uniform day. Prep Charity monitors, Afia and Ritu, helped by Sfera and Anna, counted up the donations and were delighted to announce the £380 total.
Meanwhile, girls in Senior School took their cue from walls covered with posters proclaiming the edict ‘On Wednesdays We Wear Pink!’ (a line from cult movie ‘Mean Girls’) dressing head to toe in every shade of pink imaginable. A special thank you must go to girls in Years 7 and 8 who took part in recreating the iconic pink ribbon that has come to symbolise Breast Cancer awareness for a photograph to mark the day. Senior School managed to raise in excess of £400 and with funds still coming in we expect to top this total.
Thank you very much to everyone for supporting ‘Breast Cancer Haven’. You can read more information about this fantastic local organisation and their valuable work here:
