What's On In Westbourne

Westbourne

28 May 2021

After enjoying their Beyond the Curriculum Day on jewellery from the past and other cultures, the girls were keen to experience another range of activities this week.

In Nursery the girls concluded their extended topic on shapes learning about 2D shapes with up to 10 sides.  They were also keen to hear about 3D shapes from the sweet shop, including triangular and hexagonal prisms; Toblerone and Smarties!  They used chalk pens to draw around shapes, counted pips and matched to the numeral to make a semi-circle watermelon.  They also painted rainbows made from semi-circles and explored hexagons and octagons.

It has been ‘w’ week in Kindergarten.  They really enjoyed taking their learning outside and collected sticks to make creative wands.

Mathematics lessons in Reception included counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and creating a class favourite pet pictogram.  They also made flowerpot people and are looking forward to planting grass seeds later for the hair.

In this last week before the half term break Reception also enjoyed a wonderful art and craft afternoon.  The girls chose two independent activities.  One was free painting and the other was the Art and Craft table.  The girls had a great time and were very imaginative and creative.  They made musical shakers, handbags, storage containers, walkie talkies and cards for their friends.  The one card sums up how they felt about their Creative Afternoon!
