The new Year 7 hit the ground running over the summer and rose to the challenge of reading as many books as they could as part of a sponsored read. Students were given recommended reading lists that suggested literary classics such as ‘Black Beauty’ by Anna Sewell and Robert Louis Stevenson’s ‘Treasure Island’.

Their combined efforts have raised an impressive £1,000 in total, with all monies raised going to Edward’s Trust, a local charity that supports families and their children through bereavement and loss. 

The readathon culminated in a final event held last Friday where they enjoyed an afternoon of taking part in literary quizzes and book reviews all whilst enjoying a few sweet treats.
