20 March 2015
On Friday 6 March, two teams of Business and Economics students took part in a Business and Accounting competition run by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) held at Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
BASE is ICAEW's National Business and Accounting competition for students aged 16-19. Students are able to engage in a business challenge that enables them to develop key employability skills and understand what it's like to be an ICAEW Chartered Accountant.
The teams had two hours to analyse a business case study and produce a proposal. They then presented their analysis to a panel of top business professionals. The girls responded to the questions with confidence.
Team members Millie Nelson, Chloe Adams, Ella Browning, Almas Ali, Joanna Brown andMaariyah Aqdis were then shortlisted to present again against three other teamsin frontof an audience of 100 people. They were absolutely delighted to be announced as regional winners and received a trophy for their efforts.
Tom Madden, ICAEW regional director Midlands, said: "This team were worthy winners and answered in a very able and concise way to some very challenging business conundrums. They are all a credit to themselves and their school."
Congratulations, girls! The team will now go on to represent Birmingham at the national final which takes place at the Metropole Hotel in Solihull in June.See coverage in this week's Birmingham Post
